Spring Cleaning

image

Spring is an excellent time for cleansing the body, mind, heart, and soul.

For the Body:
Start by cleaning out your pantry and eliminate processed foods.  Visit the local farmers market or start greens in your own garden for some fresh super nutrients.
Consider fasting or a try a colonic cleanse to help clear your digestive tract.
Light exercises such as walking and yoga are helpful at moving the process along.

For the Mind:
Mindful practices such as meditation, hypnosis, and journaling are extremely effective methods of stress relief.  Letting go of toxic relationships, negative people, and other energy consuming stressors allow us to focus on bettering our Selves.  Prioritizing commitments in our lives will help us focus on what really matters.

For the Heart:
Forgiveness will set you free.  Be kind to Your Self and forgive your mistakes by letting go of the past and making positive changes NOW.
Realize that those who have broken your heart and damaged your trust are likely hurting worse than you.  So many are suffering from mental conditions, and everyone is fighting their own battle.  Only hurt people hurt people.  Instead of holding onto negative energy and anger, simply wish them peace and happiness, and lovingly set them free to go their own way.
Practice random and loving acts of kindness with others.  Be generous, and your heart will mend and grow in time and you will be stronger from the experience.

For the Soul:
Take the time to be ALONE and find Your Self.
Simplify your surroundings.  Clear the clutter.  If you don’t use it, lose it.  Let go of that which no longer serves you. Donate to a charity.  Make good use of your stuff instead of letting it drain you.
Change your environment.  Paint a room a bright color. Reorganize furniture.  Change is life.  Stagnancy is death.
Explore nature.  Breathe in all the beauty around you.  Exhale everything else.  Life is abundant.

Take the time to reflect on your life up to now.  Create new goals.  Be the best you can be in every way.  Namaste!

Love Your Body

image

Love is a natural human birthright.  Our bodies are living proof.  No matter what toxins, abuse, or self harm you bring to yourself, your body will continuously try to filter, repair, and heal itself to achieve homeostasis.  You only get one body to house your mind and soul, so treat it with loving kindness.

Love your body back by gently exercising, walking,  practicing yoga, meditating, and resting when needed.  Feed yourself clean foods, avoid toxic additives, smoke, alcohol, and caffeine.  Massage, aromatherapy, and reduce clutter and stress.

By taking care of your body, you will be able to love yourself and others more fully.  Love is contagious, and others will mirror you and return the favor.

Feel Your Food

Mindfulness is key to optimal health.  It is important to be aware of what you are putting in your body, to interpret the biofeedback it is constantly providing you.

Nutrition Tracking Software is freely available and makes it easy to log your caloric intake and expenditure.  Apps such as MyFitness Pal, Sparkpeople, amongst many others allow people to log their diet and exercise, track weight, share recipes, and support one another in their wellness ventures all at the convenience of your Smart Phone.

The only thing missing from these marvelous applications is the ability to log how you feel throughout the day, as well as any environmental stressors (toxins, stress, etc.) you may encounter. This helps us learn what foods are best for our bio-individual bodies.

Many of us are suffering from inflammation, fatigue, depression, or other digestive and mental diseases.  The pain we interpret is our body trying to alert us that something is wrong.  Our innately intelligent bodies are to send us signal us that something needs to change.  It is essential to take note of these queues.  Food journaling will help you differentiate between foods are benefical and detrimental to your body.

If, for instance, you are experiencing gas after a meal, your food journal might indicate too much food, improper food combining, or eating when you are not in parasympathetic mode.  Skin conditions, headaches, and mental confusion are often signs of allergies

You should be satiated and energized after a healthy meal.  If not, take this simple Dietary Fine Tuning Mini Quiz to determine what’s missing from your meal.  Take note of how you feel, omit possible allergens, eat fresh whole foods, and appreciate every bite.

Breathe in and exhale “Let thy food be thy medicine”….”You are what you eat”….”Garbage in – Garbage out”…..simple, yet effective historic mantras.  ~ Namaste

Forgive

HEAL

We have All been hurt, and have also hurt Others.  Humans are beautifully imperfect by design.

It is not necessary to forget, but it is important to learn to forgive.

Holding onto tension from the past can cause systematic problems for the heart, lungs, muscles, digestive tract, and the mind.  By accepting the “mistakes” that allow us to learn, grow, and evolve, we can All rise to a higher state of consciousness and well-being.

Don’t Worry – Be Happy

dontworry

Print this diagram out.  Post it to your ceiling, refrigerator, journal, mirror and/or wallet.

Worrying causes unnecessary tension and anxiety.  It depletes our bodies of numerous Vitamins and Minerals, leading to depression, fatigue, and immune disorders.

We are all faced with challenges on a daily basis.  It’s important to recognize how these issues affect our bodies.  Journaling, deep breathing, and yoga/stretching are excellent ways for us to connect with our bodies.  When we practice mindfulness, we are able to control our animal instincts and overcome the Flight or Fight Syndrome.  We can identify the perceived problem, prioritize it, and decide how deal with it.

The fact is, there are very few situations in life that require us to make life or death decisions.  Being alive is a gift, no matter how hard it may seem.  A bad day at work, heavy traffic, or an altercation with a loved one will likely not matter in a 10, 5, or even 1 year from now.  Take a deep breath, get real, and be thankful you have the innate intuition to figure out how to handle the situation.

Don’t Worry – Be Happy.  Everything is going to be OK!
